Toenail Surgery

Toenail Surgery is a minor surgery procedure to remove all or part of a problematic toenail.

Reasons for the procedure:

• Ingrown Toenail
• Thickened or distorted toenails

Types of surgery:

• Wedge resection - a part of the nail causing concern is removed
• Total resection - the toenail is completely removed

Surgery not suitable in the following circumstances:
  • Current toenail infection
  • Current infection anywhere in the body / taking oral antibiotics (does not apply to long-term antibiotic use)
  • We do not offer treatment under 16 years of age
  • Diabetes – unfortunately we do not offer toenail procedures for patients with diabetes
